Frank Stella was a pivotal figure in Modern Art, known for his innovative contributions to Minimalism and Abstraction. His work challenged artistic conventions through geometric precision, innovative technology, and multidimensional forms. K-3 is part of the artist’s Scarlatti Sonata Kirkpatrick series, named after Domenico Scarlatti’s five hundred and fifty-five keyboard sonatas. In honor of Stella, who passed away in May 2024, Jamestown will share the remarkable sculpture with the community.

Returning this large sculpture to its intended exhibition was a massive undertaking and great team effort. Weighing more than 600 pounds and measuring over 12 feet high, it had to be carefully transported in the middle of the night. It took a village!
