About Phil Proctor

Phil Proctor is an Atlanta-based professional sculptor known for his large-scale works and public art installations. He holds a Bachelor of Fine Arts in Sculpture from the University of Southern Mississippi and a Master of Fine Arts in Sculpture from East Carolina University, grounding his practice in rigorous technical training and material exploration.

Proctor is the founder and owner of Nucleus Sculpture Studio in South Atlanta, a creative hub where he designs and fabricates his own monumental sculptures. The studio also serves as a full-service fabrication space for other professional artists, providing consultation, design, engineering, fabrication, and installation support.

His sculptures—both temporary and permanent—are installed throughout the United States and abroad, appearing in public spaces, exhibitions, and private collections. Proctor’s work reflects a commitment to craftsmanship, scale, and collaboration, positioning him as a prominent figure within contemporary public art.

“My work explores three dimensional space; primarily as it relates to the human experience. My goal is to create an experience for the viewer; the experience of occupying space with the art, not separate from it. I want a viewer to relate to the work physically; to understand the similarities and differences between the objects and themselves and to relate to the shapes and forms even if on some unconscious level. I enjoy building, constructing; mostly, I think, because I like to experience physical objects changing shape and coming together. ”
