About Esteban Patino

Esteban Patiño is a multidisciplinary artist whose practice spans sculpture, collage, and painting. His work explores the creation and perception of language, focusing on how symbols and forms communicate meaning. Patiño developed a personal system of six characters, each rotating on its own axis four times to create twenty-four unique symbols, an invented alphabet that blurs the line between visual art and written language.

Using this symbolic system, Patiño creates text-based works such as speech bubbles, palindromes, and metaphors that investigate how we interpret both visual and verbal communication. His sculptures use repetition and rhythm to explore ideas of time and universality, while his collages form humanoid, abstract figures that reflect on existence and transformation. His paintings emerge intuitively, often revealing mythic or spiritual forms that embody timeless human gestures.

Through this multifaceted approach, Patiño’s work examines the fluid boundaries between language, form, and meaning, inviting viewers to experience language as a visual and emotional landscape.
